Tumor Growth in Potassium-deficient Mice.
نویسنده
چکیده
The growth rate of Sarcoma 180 and of a mammary adenocarcinoma in potassium deficient mice did not significantly differ from that in pair-fed control mice. The po tassium concentration of these tumors in potassium-deficient mice was the same as in the control mice, although the potassium concentration of muscle and plasma was only half of that in the controls. The in vivo equilibration of K@ in Sarcoma 180 showed that at least 80 per cent of the tissue potassium was exchangeable.

The Effect of Potassium on the Growth of Normal and Malignant Cells in Tissue Culture *
Potassium is the dominant cation of the cell, but in the body fluids sodium dominates. This remarkable fact has been the stimulus to many investigations of normal and malignant tissues.'4 Analysis of tumor tissue has shown, in general, an increase in potassium which is roughly proportional to the rate of growth." 2,18 Roffo"2 states that the potassium content of rat tumor was about the same as ...
متن کاملThe Effects of Potassium Deficiency on Tumor-Bearing Mice *
Many attempts have been made to influence the growth of tumors by altering the amount or quality of the diet. In the experiments reported here, the effect of eliminating potassium, an element essential to growth of the body, upon a transplantable carcinoma of the mouse was investigated. The results of potassium deprivation have been extensively studied. Miller10 found that when the potassium co...
متن کاملO 24: Functional Role of The K2p Potassium Channel Task-3 in A Syngeneic Murine Glioma Model
To investigate the effects of the two-pore-domain potassium (K2P) channel TASK-3 in a syngeneic murine model for malignant glioma. Malignant or high-grade glioma (WHO grade III and IV) are the most common and most aggressive primary brain tumors in adults. Despite aggressive multimodal therapy, the outcome of patients with malignant glioma remains poor. However, recent phase I and II trials hav...
متن کاملTriple tandem mimotope peptide of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor displaying on the surface of M13 phage induces anti-tumor response in mice tumor model
Introduction: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) has been shown to play a critical role in tumor cell growth and its overexpression has been observed in many epithelial tumors. In the field of cancer vaccine research, displaying the peptide mimotope on the surface of phage particles has shown promising results. Methods: In this study using m13-PVIII phage display system, two constructs we...
متن کاملHuman Wharton’s jelly mesenchymal stem cells-derived secretome could inhibit breast cancer growth in vitro and in vivo
Objective(s): Controversial results have been reported regarding the anti-tumor properties of extracellular vesicles derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). The present study was conducted to evaluate whether secretome derived from Human Wharton’s jelly mesenchymal stem cells (hWJMSCs) may stimulate or inhibit breast cancer growth in vitro and in vivo.<st...
